Prof. Qianqian Fang

Dr. Qianqian Fang (房骞骞) is an Associate Professor and Associate Chair for Research and Graduate Affairs of the Bioengineering Department at Northeastern University, with an affiliated position in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. After receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, he completed his PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering at the Thayer School of Engineering, Dartmouth College (NH, USA). He joined the Martinos Center of Biomedical Imaging at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School for his postdoctoral training between 2005 and 2009, and became an Instructor of Radiology in 2009 and Assistant Professor in 2012, before he jointed Northeastern University in 2015.

Dr. Fang's research interests focus on innovations in translational medical imaging devices to better diagnose cancers, low-cost point-of-care diagnostic tools to deliver life-saving medicines to the resource-poor regions, and high performance computing tools to facilitate the development of the next-generation imaging methods. Recent awards include Leading Innovation in Reimagining Global Health through the Innovation Countdown 2030 Initiative and an NIH Brain Initiative R01 grant developing the "next-generation optical brain functional imaging platform."

Aside from teaching and research, Dr. Fang loves photography, typographic design, Chinese calligraphy and painting, hiking, listening to music and watching movies. His favorite music genres is epic orchestral music; his favorite music production studio is Audiomachine. He enjoys learning new things and writing programs just for fun.

2. Current Postdoctoral Fellows

Dr. Miguel Adrian Mireles Nuñez

Dr. Miguel Adrian Mireles Nuñez is a postdoctoral research associate at COTI lab. His research focuses on the diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), diffuse correlation spectroscopy (DCS) and diffuse optical tomography (DOT). He received his Ph.D. degree in the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain. He is currently working on developing an optical mammography imaging system that is aimed at enhancing diagnostic accuracy and early detection of breast cancer.

Morris Vanegas

Morris Vanegas is the webmaster of COTI. He also is the lab manager of COTI Studio, COTI lab's in-house prototyping lab used to create all kinds of devices. He is a maker, pilot, and salsa dancer!

Shijie is a PhD student in the ECE department. He is currently leading the development of our next generation Monte Carlo eXtreme (MCX, http://mcx.space) photon simulation algorithms and open-source software platform.
