Image-based 3D Mesh Generation

Creating 3D models from volumetric medical data

Surface and tetrahedral mesh models are universally used in many areas such as graphics rendering, computational physics and medical imaging. However, high-quality mesh generation from complex 3D datasets has been a challenging task and there is no widely available tool for the research community. Over the past decade, we have developed one of the most popular open-source 3D mesh generation toolbox - iso2mesh. Since 2007, this toolbox has accrued over 18,000 worldwide downloads and attracted over 2,200 registered users. It plays a critical role in a wide variety of projects, ranging from high-energy physics research to computer visualization, attested by the nearly 300 paper citations.
